About Laurel

Laurel Mojica grew up in rural Michigan, a few blocks from a lake, and spent as many days as possible in the water. She cherishes her memories of walking on the shores of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea and the North Sea, but prefers to swim in Michigan’s own Great Lakes (“unsalted and shark free”). She loves science and magic and creatures of all sorts…except spiders. (They’re useful, but not lovable. Sorry.)

She loves her family and all things electronic, but still wishes she could drag them (and herself) out for more walks, hikes, camping trips, and car trips. In the meantime, you can often find them watching movies together in the living room with the cat.

You can subscribe to her newsletter through Substack to hear book updates and her thoughts on writing.
